A connected learner leverages the ISTE standards via professional learning networks as a model for developing and acting upon shared instructional goals. With the ISTE coaching standards as an overarching guide, connected learners as educators can leverage the ISTE standards for students and ISTE standards for educators as a model for managing the development of shared goals, deepening expertise, reflecting on successes while continually improving teaching practices, and more. This successful application ultimately leads to the deepening of expertise at the coaching level as the connected learner enhances his or her own coaching practices through continual improvement in the context of guiding student and teacher development in the respective ISTE standards.
